Music Industry Speed Meetings, Networking And Showcase Event

Monday 19th May is our latest speed meetings, networking and showcase evening in Soho at the Phoenix Artist Club.
Linked below is the PDF invite – have a look through and once you’ve decided who to book in with, fire an email to networking@karouselmusic.com and we’ll get you all scheduled up. It’s a first come, first served scenario – we’ll do our best to make sure you get to see as many of the people you request as possible.

We’re incredibly grateful to the acts for playing, and to the experts who are coming along and generously donating their time so that aspiring industry pros, artists, managers, and just those looking to do some business can come and get the benefit of their knowledge. This is a FREE event, so please do spread the word to anyone serious about a focused career in music if you think they may benefit from the sessions – or be of benefit to others in the wider networking that follows. Finally, we hope you’ll all stay for the show to see these three killer acts – the point of what we do after all is to help great artists. We’re sure you’ll agree, it’s a tremendous line up. The Speed Meetings will begin at 5:45pm on the nose, the general networking from 7pm, and music from 8pm. As ever, there’ll be a fantastic menu on for those wishing to eat – highly recommended!

And the of course, the acts…

/// TOM BAXTER ///

After a number one record in Ireland, top ten in the UK and deals with Sony/Columbia and EMI for Feather & Stone and Skybound, many of you will be no stranger to Tom. His track Miracle was used for the BBC’s final Beijing Olympic montage; My Declaration was covered by Eliza Bennett; and he’s even been covered by Dame Shirley Bassey who recorded Almost There and performed it with him at the BBC Electric Proms, at the Royal Albert Hall. While that gives you an idea of the pedigree of his writing, as a performer he is knockout. If the spirit of Jeff Buckley were to wade up onto the beach and pick up a guitar, while Marvyn Gaye and John Legend lit up the bonfire and raised the flame by pouring on an 18 year old single malt, it might sound like Tom…

/// FIONA BEVAN ///

The first thing you’ll probably read if you search for Fiona is that she wrote Little Things for One Direction with Ed Sheeran. Now that’s all good and well, but what you really should be reading about is her record, Talk To Strangers. As the Guardian put it so well, it’s decorated with “startling odysseys that suggest Erykah Badu, Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush spine-tinglingly joined” Describing herself as ‘pop in disguise’, within five seconds of seeing her live you know you’re watching the real deal. A wonderful musician with a unique voice and a magnetism on stage that sets her apart from most of her contemporaries.

/// JAZZ BAILEY ///

A firm favourite of Lauren Laverne on 6 Music, Jazz Bailey has toured Europe and supported such acts as Fat Freddy’s Drop, Redman and Method Man; USA boy band ATL, wretch 32, Yasmin, Hot Chip and Zero 7. He’s got a voice that basks somewhere between Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding, and is so full of soul it’s hard not to elicit a grin when he’s singing. Over the last few years he has performed at some of Europe’s premiere events and venues including Glastonbury, Wireless and Secret Garden Party as well as Koko and Hammersmith Apollo. Collaborations with Bilal, Wishbone (Hed Kandi), Architeq (Tirk records), DJ Vadim, 12 piece live band the Sunharbour Collective (Tirk records), UK MC Soloman , singer songwriter Rachel Huggins, UK poet G.R.E.E.D.S, session band The Remedies, and Soul singer Jahilsou point to a prolific writer and musician on the edge, waiting for the seesaw to drop his side of the line – let’s hope tonight can go some way to helping make that happen.
