Today we  say a huge congratulations to four our of our published writers here at Karousel – Tom Richards, Matt Brooks, Pauly Murray and Graeme Blevins, who all have significant songwriting and performing contributions on the forthcoming RAYE album, This Music May Contain Hope. It’s an extraordinary piece of work, and we think will be the album of the year worldwide. No artist deserves it more.

Since the beginnings of Karousel, while we set up as a publisher with our partners at Wixen Music UK, we’ve been extremely passionate about the hidden champions involved in the making of records: the musicians, band members or session musicians. Nothing would be have been possible to such a level, for so many of the great artists without these players, and their lifetime of accumulated knowledge and skills, and yet they are seldom celebrated. They are the cornerstone of the industry. It is to the very great credit of RAYE that she has recognised this, and given appropriate songwriting contributions to these great songwriter-musicians. For us, it’s a great honour to get to work with the guys on the record, but also on their wider careers giving advice, intro’s and career help in a more rounded sense. And you know what? After all her campaigning to give master points to writers, do you know what RAYE does? She gives master points to writers. She’s the real deal.

Tom also has a number of production credits on the record, having received his and our first Ivor Novello nomination for his contribution to Genesis from RAYE’sMy 21st Century Symphony (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) last year. We’re extremely proud to get to work with them all.

For those of you that know that Karousel is a CIC, you’ll also know that our share of the income from this record will get recycled into the CIC, and into grants, events and initiatives for a range songwriters, including those who’ve not had the light shine on them yet that they deserve. We believe this is absolutely in line with RAYE’s own legacy, and we are so excited to see what good we can do with the money that is generated by our small share of this record. It is possible to make the world better, one song at a time. RAYE is doing that, and we are thrilled to be able – fingers crossed! – to do the same soon too!
